ATMA
The project
Atma is a 2D pixel art adventure game, in which you embody Shaya, the guardian of the world's harmony. By drawing mantras, you'll have to fight and solve puzzles to find the truth about your lover's death : Atma.

The game is based on a low paced atmosphere, which allows the player to slowly explore the world and learn about the universe or the story.

MORE INFORMATION
Joining the core team
To help the core team release the game, I was asked to join them as a support for designers. I joined the team in august 2018 and had to catch up with everything that had already been developed : design, intentions, narration and adapting quickly to propose consistent ideas.
Building Tinkanya's Village
My main task was to build the village scene, a narrative HUB in which the player learns more about the plot of the game.

This scene had to be a concentration of the essence of the game, its narration or universe.

Through world building and scripting, and with a lot of communication with the artists, I set up this scene and added some features to enhance the narration :

-
Mini quests using the core mechanic
-
Flashback cinematics.

The release
Events
We also participated to the Game Developer World Championship 2019, and won Fan favourite and Hobby categories.
Indiecade Paris (October 2018)
Before releasing the game we participated in events to tease the game and have direct feedback from players.
Some Youtube videos and Twitch streams played Atma and reviewed it, giving feedback and confronting us with internet comments and criticism.
Being directly confronted with player's feedback was a thrilling experience, watching them having fun, giving either compliments or constructive criticism was really an achievement for me. These events allowed us to gain followers on our twitter page, and some loyal fans who downloaded the game when it finally came out.
We released the game on Steam and Itch.io on july 2019, and since then the game has been downloaded more than
75 000 times, and has about 80%+ positive reviews on steam.
